Can I inspect my furniture before it is finished?

Yes, you can inspect your furniture before it is finished: Goldenwood shows it in immersive 3D before the first cut and sends progress photos at each major stage.

From the Goldenwood workshop in Wetherill Park, family-owned and family-run, making custom timber pieces and joinery since 1988.

Before the first cut: the custom furniture design process

The consult can take place in your home or at the Wetherill Park workshop, where Goldenwood discusses the brief, walks the room and presents timber samples and finishes.

The showroom keeps sample boards of its timbers and every finish, from a range of over 50 species, and Goldenwood can post a small kit of timber chips and finish samples.

Goldenwood measures, draws and builds immersive 3D visuals of the piece, with 2 design rounds included to change it before anything is cut. See how Goldenwood's custom furniture is made.

At sign-off the itemised quote is locked, and shop drawings and a production schedule set out how the piece will be built.

While it is being made: photos and the workshop floor

Each piece is built from start to finish by one maker in the Sydney workshop, with progress photos at each major stage.

One project team takes each job from the first conversation to handover, so the same people answer your questions during the build.

The showroom shares the floor with the workshop, so on the day you visit you can watch pieces being made at the benches.

The showroom is open seven days, 9:30am to 5:30pm, and you can walk in without booking.

The Wetherill Park workshop runs CNC machining alongside the hand benches, on a machine that arrived in 2026.

The two checks before your piece is finished

Goldenwood inspects every piece at 2 checkpoints: one before finishing, for its structural integrity, and one after finishing, for the final surface.

Structure is checked before the finish goes on because a joint or a frame can still be reworked while the surface is bare.

Most catalogue pieces ship within 8 to 14 weeks of design confirmation; for larger fitted joinery the lead time is confirmed in the quote.

A made-to-order piece cannot be returned for a change of mind once production has begun, which is why the design is settled in 3D first; your Australian Consumer Law rights are not reduced.

On delivery day, and after

Within the Sydney metropolitan area, Goldenwood's own installation team unwraps and inspects each piece on site and places it in the room you choose.

If you find a fault on delivery, have it recorded on the delivery sheet and send photos within 7 days.

Goldenwood's 10-year craftsmanship warranty covers defects in the joinery, structure or finish that come from how the piece was built.

Hinges, drawer runners and the other installed moving hardware carry a lifetime warranty.

What to look at before your piece is finished

  • At the consult: the timber samples and finishes, in your home or at the workshop.
  • In the 3D visuals: the size, the doors and the drawers, across the 2 design rounds included.
  • At sign-off: the itemised quote and the shop drawings.
  • During the build: the progress photos at each major stage.
  • On delivery: any fault, recorded on the delivery sheet, with photos sent within 7 days.
