Privacy Policy
This policy explains how Goldenwood Furniture handles the personal information you share with us — when you enquire, book a consult, subscribe to our newsletter, or visit the showroom. It is written to align with the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
1. Who we are
In this policy, "Goldenwood", "we", "us" and "our" refer to Goldenwood Furniture, a furniture and joinery studio based at 6 Coates Place, Wetherill Park NSW 2164, Australia.
2. What information we collect
We only collect information you give us, or that we need in order to do the work you have asked us to do:
- Contact details — your name, email address, phone number, and where applicable a delivery address — collected through our enquiry form, by email, by phone, or when you visit the showroom.
- Project details — the brief, drawings, measurements, and any photos or files you share with us so we can quote, design, and build a piece for you.
- Newsletter subscription — if you opt in, we store your email address against your subscription so we can send you studio updates roughly once a month.
- Website analytics — aggregate, anonymised information about how visitors use the site (page views, device, referrer). This is used to improve the site and is not linked to any individual.
We do not knowingly collect information from children under 16, and we do not handle credit card numbers on this website — deposits and invoices are processed via direct bank transfer or a third-party payment provider on a separate invoice.
3. Why we collect it and how we use it
- To respond to your enquiry and prepare a quote.
- To design, build, deliver, and install commissioned pieces.
- To send you the newsletter, only if you have opted in.
- To honour our 10-year craftsmanship warranty — we retain a record of the original commission so we can repair pieces in future.
- To comply with our legal obligations (tax records, the Australian Consumer Law, etc.).
4. Who we share it with
We do not sell your information. We share it only where it is necessary to do the work, and only with:
- Freight and installation partners, when we need to coordinate delivery outside the Sydney basin.
- Service providers we use to run the studio — for example, our email provider, our cloud document storage, our accounting software, and our scheduling tool for consultations. These providers are bound by their own privacy obligations and only handle data as needed.
- Government or law enforcement bodies, where we are legally required to disclose information.
5. Where your information is stored
Most of our records are kept on systems hosted in Australia. Some of our service providers (for example, our email and analytics platforms) may store data outside Australia — typically in the United States or Europe — under their own data protection arrangements. By using this site or contacting us, you consent to this overseas storage.
6. How long we keep it
We keep enquiry and commission records for as long as we are likely to need them to honour our warranty and our legal obligations, and then we securely dispose of them. Newsletter subscriptions are kept until you unsubscribe.
7. Cookies and tracking
This website uses a small number of cookies to remember your filter choices on the catalogue and to measure site usage. You can disable cookies in your browser settings without losing access to the site.
8. Your rights
Under the Australian Privacy Principles you have the right to:
- Ask us what personal information we hold about you.
- Ask us to correct it if it is wrong or out of date.
- Ask us to delete it, subject to any legal obligation we have to retain it.
- Withdraw consent (for example, by unsubscribing from the newsletter) at any time.
- Make a complaint about how we have handled your information. You can complain to us first using the contact details below. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The version date at the top of this page is the easiest way to see when it last changed. Any material change will be communicated by email to active customers.
