Goldenwood makes church furniture in Sydney: pews and church benches, altars and altar tables, lecterns, pulpits, decorative boards and other pieces for churches and chapels. Each piece is drawn to the church's brief and made in solid timber in the Wetherill Park workshop, where the family has built custom timber pieces since 1988, including altars for a Sydney parish in 2022 and 2025.
Do you make custom church pews and church benches?
Yes. Timber church pews and church benches are made to order; none is kept in stock. Everything the workshop makes can be customised, so each pew is cut to the length of the space it stands in, with the timber, profile, finish and detail the church asks for. Church chairs and seats can be made the same way.
One maker builds each pew from start to finish in Wetherill Park, with progress photos at each major stage. Before the first cut, the pews are measured, drawn and shown in 3D, with 2 design rounds included; the shop drawings and an itemised quote are then locked at sign-off. Goldenwood's own crew delivers and installs them across all Sydney council areas.
Do you make an altar or altar table to order?
Yes. Goldenwood has made altars for a Sydney parish twice: an altar in 2022, then a pair of Tasmanian Oak altar plinths ordered in November 2025.

Do you make church lecterns, pulpits and decorative boards?
Yes. A lectern or pulpit is sized, shaped and detailed to the church's brief.
Decorative boards follow the same process. Other church and chapel pieces not named here can be drawn to the same brief.

Yes, you can buy church pews here, made to order and never from stock. The cost depends on four things: the size of each piece, the timber, the detail, and how many pieces the church needs.

How is church furniture delivered, installed and guaranteed?
The crew delivers and installs across all Sydney council areas: it unwraps and inspects each piece, places it and removes the packaging. Further afield, specialist furniture transport takes the pieces to the church. Before a piece leaves Wetherill Park it is checked twice: for structure before finishing, then for the surface after it.
Each piece carries a 10-year craftsmanship warranty for defects in joinery, structure or finish that come from how it was built. Exclusions (wear, misuse, water, heat, outdoor use and others) are on the warranty page.

- Can our committee approve the design before anything is made?
- Yes. The pieces are shown in 3D before the first cut, with 2 design rounds for the committee to settle the design. Once work starts, the maker sends progress photos at each major stage.
- Which timbers can church pews and altar tables be made in?
- Solid timber. American Walnut, Tasmanian Oak, Spotted Gum, Blackbutt, American Oak, Tasmanian Blackwood and Jarrah are listed, and Goldenwood can source other timbers on request. The parish altar plinths ordered in 2025 are Tasmanian Oak.
- Can we visit and watch pieces being made?
- Yes. The showroom at 6 Coates Place, Wetherill Park shares the floor with the workshop, so visitors can watch pieces being made. A sample board of each working timber and every finish is on hand, and the showroom opens seven days a week, 9:30am to 5:30pm, without booking.
