The Goldenwood Warranty
Every piece we make is built to be repaired. This page sets out the voluntary warranty we offer on top of your statutory rights under the Australian Consumer Law.
What we cover
10 years on craftsmanship
For 10 years from the date of delivery, we will repair — at no charge to you — any defect in the joinery, structure, or finish that arises from the way we built the piece.
Lifetime on hardware
Hinges, runners, and any other moving hardware we install are guaranteed for the working life of the piece. If a hinge fails, a drawer runner sticks, or a catch wears out, we will replace it.
Repair, no matter when
If a Goldenwood piece needs help outside the warranty period, send it back anyway. We will repair it at fair cost. That commitment is not time-limited and applies to every piece this studio has built since 1988.
What is not covered
The warranty does not cover:
- Damage from normal wear — small scratches, marks from everyday use, fading from sunlight over many years.
- Damage from misuse, impact, water, heat, or harsh cleaning agents (see our Care Guide).
- Movement that is normal in solid timber — seasonal expansion and contraction, minor checking on the end-grain of large slabs.
- Damage caused by alteration or repair by someone other than us.
- Pieces that have been used outdoors or in a setting they were not designed for.
Your rights under the Australian Consumer Law
This warranty operates in addition to, and does not limit, your statutory rights as a consumer in Australia. Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and to compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. You are also entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced if the goods fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure.
Who can claim
The warranty is for the original purchaser. If you sell or pass the piece on, the new owner can still send it back to us for repair — at their cost — under the same standard of care.
How to make a claim
- Email admin@goldenwoodfurniture.com.au with photos of the piece and a short description of the issue.
- We will review and let you know — usually within 5 business days — whether it is covered and how we plan to put it right.
- For pieces within the Sydney basin we collect, repair, and return. For pieces further afield we coordinate freight or a workshop visit, whichever makes more sense.
The expenses
You may be required to bear the expense of returning the goods to us and of us returning them to you, where the claim turns out not to be a manufacturing defect covered by this warranty or the Australian Consumer Law.
