How do you choose an affordable cabinet maker in Sydney?
From the Goldenwood workshop in Wetherill Park, family-owned and family-run, making custom timber pieces and joinery since 1988.
Choose a cabinet maker whose quote is itemised and locked at sign-off, who measures your room on site, and who shows you the design in 3D before anything is cut. Put the same questions to the best cabinet makers Sydney has to offer, then compare their answers line by line: an affordable cabinet maker is the one whose quote you can rely on, with no surprises between the quote and the final invoice.

How to choose a cabinet maker for a kitchen renovation
Goldenwood has made custom timber pieces and fitted joinery in Wetherill Park since 1988, and it offers full kitchen renovations as well as the kitchen cabinets themselves.
Its custom cabinetry is engineered board finished in sprayed two-pack polyurethane, with a stone benchtop wherever the design calls for one. See how Goldenwood's cabinet making works.
The quote is itemised and locked at sign-off, so you can compare it line by line with any other quote you hold and know exactly what is included.
Before a single board is cut, you see the kitchen in immersive 3D visuals, with 2 design rounds included to change the bench space, the drawers, the storage or the doors.
For a kitchen commission, the lead time depends on the scope, the workshop's current load and the timber required, and it is confirmed in writing in the quote.
Fitting out a new home or apartment
Kitchen, wardrobe, bathroom vanity and full-home joinery can be drawn together with the furniture, so the whole house is planned as one consistent design.
Fitted work is measured on site, drawn to the room and installed by Goldenwood's own crew, which works across all Sydney council areas.
After sign-off, detailed shop drawings and a production schedule keep the workshop floor in step with the builder and the other trades on site.
Each piece is built from start to finish by one maker in the Sydney workshop, and you receive progress photos at each major stage of construction.
Every piece passes 2 inspection checkpoints: one before finishing, for the structure, and one after finishing, for the final surface.
Beyond the kitchen: vanities, laundries and wardrobes
The same workshop makes walk-in and fitted wardrobes, hallway and laundry storage, bathroom and powder-room vanities, and floor-to-ceiling wall units and cellars.
Every kitchen, vanity and built-in leaves the workshop in a two-pack polyurethane finish, which keeps the joinery consistent from room to room.
Stone tops can be honed or polished, templated on site and fitted to the joinery, so the benchtop and the cabinet are made to match.
Where the design calls for timber, Goldenwood works with over 50 timber species, and the 7 listed on its materials page can all be ordered in.
Visiting the workshop before you choose
The showroom shares the floor with the workshop, so you can watch custom designed pieces being made on the day you visit.
The showroom is open 7 days, 9:30am to 5:30pm, with no booking needed and free parking on site.
CNC machining runs beside the hand benches: the workshop's CNC machine arrived in 2026, takes sheets up to 3.6 m by 1.2 m, and cuts board and solid timber.
The showroom has sample boards for every timber and finish, and Goldenwood can also post you a small kit of timber chips and finish samples.
David, Cindy or one of the senior makers will walk you through your brief, in English or in Mandarin.
Living with the cabinets for years
Goldenwood's craftsmanship warranty runs for 10 years and covers defects in the joinery, structure or finish that come from how the piece was built.
Hinges, drawer runners and the other installed moving hardware carry a lifetime warranty, which matters most on the doors and drawers you use every day.
After the warranty period ends, Goldenwood says it will repair its own pieces at a fair cost.
If you find a fault on delivery, have it recorded on the delivery sheet and send photos within 7 days.
