Custom sofas at Goldenwood are made to order on a timber frame and upholstered: button-tufted sofas like the Caloundra and the Maroochy, lounge settings like the Redfern, and banquettes for dining nooks and restaurants. The size, the shape and the timber of each can be changed to suit your room.
Does Goldenwood make custom sofas?
Yes, made to order. The Caloundra is a compact two-seat sofa with a button-tufted back and winged arms, and the Maroochy has a tufted back and curved arms on splayed legs. The Mollymook, shown in Tasmanian Oak, is a bench sofa with a framed back and arms and a two-part seat cushion.
For a living room, the Redfern Lounge Setting pairs a low-armed sofa with two swivel armchairs on star bases, and the Mornington lounge chairs have deep upholstered seats and backs on angled frames.
Do you make banquettes and booth seating?
Yes, for dining nooks at home and for restaurants. The Channel Banquette is a fixed bench with a vertical channel back on a solid timber base. The Pyrmont is a U-shaped booth in American Oak, the Newtown wraps its seat and back in a rounded American Oak shell, and the Leichhardt is a long restaurant banquette with a spindle back rail, loose back cushions and a foot rail.
How is the Channel Banquette built?
On a solid timber base, with ply and internal hardwood framing, dowelled or screwed and glued to a commercial grade. The seat and back are high-density foam over webbing, the back cut into vertical channels, and the timber is finished in a clear matt two-pack polyurethane.
As shown it is 1,800 mm long, 650 mm deep and 950 mm high, with a 460 mm seat height as standard and a medium-firm seat.
How long does a custom made sofa take?
Most pieces ship within 8–14 weeks once the design is confirmed; how a commission runs is on the custom furniture page.

- Can the banquette be made longer, or with a lower seat?
- Yes. It is shown 1,800 mm long with a 460 mm seat, and the length and seat height are settled on the drawings before it is made.
- Is the seating made for commercial use?
- Yes. The Channel Banquette is built to a commercial grade, and the Pyrmont, Newtown and Leichhardt are made for restaurant seating. For a whole fit-out, Goldenwood also makes joinery, storage and bespoke furniture to a designer's or architect's specification.
- Can I see the timbers and finishes first?
- The showroom is on the workshop floor at 6 Coates Place, Wetherill Park, so you can see sample boards and finishes and watch pieces being made on the day. A kit of timber chips and finish samples can be posted instead.
